Coronavirus disease from 2019
The Coronavirus disease from 2019 – COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the new Coronavirus called SARS-nCoV-2, initially discovered in China in December 2019.
Most of the people who will be infected with COVID-19 will feel easy to medium respiratory disease and will heal without any special treatment.
The elderly and those with chronic diseases, such as heart diseases, diabetes, chronic lung diseases and tumors may be affected with more severe clinical conditions.
The best way to prevent i.e. decrease the transmission of the virus from person to person is to properly inform of the protection methods. Protect yourself from infection by regular washing of hands using soap and water, longer than 20 seconds, disinfecting your hands when soap and water are not readily available, and use alcohol disinfectants; try not to touch your face with your hands. Staying in proper self-isolation is also a good method to prevent transmission of the virus, as well as keeping social distance.
COVID-19 is primarily disseminated through droplets from saliva or snot from an infected person. Therefore, it is very important to keep to the simple rules of proper behaviour, for example, to cough and sneeze in a tissue or to cover our mouth and nose with our hand bent in the elbow.
At this moment there is no specific vaccine or method for treatment of the disease. However, many laboratories and hospitals are conducting clinical trials in order to find a possible cure or a vaccine.
